Part 1
Twitch Streamers are people who stream themselves playing video games. The streamer I watched is named “sodapoppintv”, he was playing World of Warcraft along with his team: The Hammer Squad. Twelve thousand people were all watching at the same time. Similar to what a caster does in a tournament, the player narrated his every move to the audience and also making a plan with his teammates on what to do next. The chat had many different conversation at the same time. Some people even talked about topics that weren’t relevant to the game. Other conversation were about the style of the players and advice on what the streamer should do. Assuming everybody knew the streamer was unable to answer, no one seemed to ask the streamer any questions considering the he was busy with the game. The streamer’s information, when scrolling down the page, had details about his contact information, donations, gear, and his sponsorship deals. The donations were surprisingly very high. This streamer has donations that go as high as $50,000. In the half an hour I watched his stream, five to six people donated money. His gear was very expensive. He has five sponsorships
Part 2
In a World of Warcraft stream, the streamer is playing the game while talking to the viewers about the game and background music. With his funny sense of humor, he is playing a calm game not worrying about trying to win. Most chatters where talking about the music and what the games player, Kent, likes to play. Most of the the chatters were very comfortable asking questions and talking to him. The player also knew some of the chatters from previous streams. When I joined the chat I just said small comments about the music. The streamer made the effort to answer or comment on almost every question or comment the chatter would say. Some of the questions asked were not related to the game such as one asked what cologne would be the best to buy. But most other’s comments where about the game and music. Every time one of his viewers commented they were going to go to sleep, the streamer would say have a goodnight and hopes to see him again sometime, showing that he does care about his viewers. In his information page, he put his contact information, donations, his gear, and his sponsorships. Overall, Kent, cared about his viewers and the game.
Part 3
. This female player named, SpaitoGaming, is playing Call of Duty: Black Ops III. She and her friend are playing the game together but are also involved in the chat. Her stream is just like the other streams that I have seen with male streamers. She is very interested in the game and is playing to beat her high score. She has over 22 thousand followers and has been streaming for over two years. During the chat she talked about how some female women make the screen of themselves larger than the game and this causes the female players loose some video game respect. She even gave advice to some new twitch streamers, telling them, the best advice she could give was just to be kind to the regular chatters. She really respects her viewers and she is just playing her favorite games. She says she is married and has a son. Most chatters respected her so there were almost no bad mouthers. In her information space, she describes her gear, her values, contact info, sponsorships, and her donation. Overall, she is a player who plays her favorite games and tries to share her experiences with her viewers.
Part 4
In the Championship of World of Warcraft, the two final teams: SK Gaming and Skill Capped EU are playing against each other to win the 2015 World Champion of World of Warcraft. There were four casters who aided viewers and the audience in describing the game. They knew the game well and engaged the audience in watching the game. While the teams were playing the game, the casters were speaking very quick and using World of Warcraft terms that was a times difficult to understand. So first time views and players may miss a few comments until they are more familiar with the game. There were thousands of people watching the tournament in arena and thousands of people watching it on Twitch. Everybody watching the game were hooked with the high intensity levels and the enthusiasm of the casters. Like any other sport tournament this esport tournament had casters and a huge audience, but the only difference is that the players are playing on a computer. Just like a sportscaster in any other sport, these casters for this esport are giving commentary and describing the game. The chat was moving very fast as people spoke their opinions about the game. Fans from each team were rooting for their favorite team.
